Ranking 1st in Google or Dominating the Search Engines?

Take a look at this video I created on YouTube. Just minding my own business on this Yicrosoft Directory challenge and it looks like I’m dominating the search results for “Yicrosoft Directory.”

So the question I have is: What is more important…

Ranking at the top of Google or dominating the Search Engines?

If you knew me, you’ll know that branding and positioning is extremely important to me so I’d have to say that “dominating the search engines” are far more important to me than just being at the top of Google.

You ask why?

Lets say you’re in the market for buying a house (this is a bad example as the market sucks right now), type in “Sacramento Real Estate” in google and as you look at the top 10 - 20 rankings you see:

Realtor A: #1 in Goolge
Realtor B: # 2, 4, 6, 7, 8, 10 in Google

In my opinion as a consumer if I see 6 different web properties talking about Realtor B vs only one of them talking about Realtor A then I’ll 9 out of 10 times want to do business with Realtor B because he’s “all over the internet” as it seems.

People want to do business with people with some credibility. When it comes to Internet Marketing & SEO, your credibility isn’t as important to be #1 in Google but by Dominating the Search Engines!

In the case of Yicrosoft Directory, I look pretty darn credible with those web properties in the SERP’s.

We’ll see how it all plays out!
